I was approached by the London restaurant O Cantinho De Portugal, to help rebrand their historic, family run restaurant that had been a staple in the Portuguese community in Stockwell for decades. They were looking to modernise the brand, whilst staying true to their Portuguese roots which provided a very interesting challenge to tackle.

The first challenge was to reinvigorate the brand with a new logo, colour scheme and brand style that they could implement very quickly into the restaurant. I looked into different national symbols and colours and after testing multiple different ways to present the new brand, we chose the swallow to represent the restaurant. Alongside this, a natural but strong colour palette that would display well on digital and print media as well as sit harmoniously with their restaurant environment.
The menu had different visual stylings and lacked any personality and therefore it was a good opportunity to apply the new branding to unify the brand identity.
I took the new fundamental design assets to find new ways to invigorate the brand and bought forward a new and innovative way for the menus to highlight all the seasonal ingredients that they would bring in. It was a great way to add some playfulness to the brand and stay rooted to the culture.
